Are You In It For The Long Haul?

Do you own a home business? Now I'm not talking about the twice yearly yard sale. I am talking about a legitimate home based business. It doesn't matter what type of business you are running (affiliate marketing, ecommerce website, ebay auctions, etc.) The question remains the same: Are you in it for the long haul?

What exactly is the "long haul" you may ask? I consider the long haul sticking with something long enough to truly determine if it is something that is going to work for you.

I've got you thinking now, huh?

Well if you are like me, you know some one that has tried their hand at everything. Now don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with checking out different ways to have a home based business. Owning your own business is a GREAT thing.

What I am talking about here is that person that gets into something for a few weeks or months, quits or drops out, then starts something new just to find that this new thing is not what they are looking for either. On top of this, a lot of times this person will tell everyone they know that none of these programs or businesses are any good.

Now as I said, there is nothing wrong with "kicking the tires" to see what is out there. The big thing is when you find something, give it an HONEST effort.

How long this honest effort may take can only be determined by you and the program you are promoting or the business you are starting. Go into it with an open mind. (TIP: There are NO "Sit back and do nothing and get rich overnight" opportunities)

Understand what you are getting involved with and determine your goals. Once you have these goals in place, HONESTLY work your business. If you fail to reach your set goals, step back and look at where you are. This will give you a good idea if this business is going to get you where you want to be.

Don't get me wrong. I am by no means telling you to stick with something that is OBVIOUSLY not working. None of us are in business to lose money. Just remember that building a STRONG home business can take a lot of work and a lot of time. It is not something to taken lightly.

In closing let me say that if you are a "tire kicker" and jump from one "sure thing" to the next, do us all a favor. If you don't give the program or business an HONEST effort and enough time to truly determine what you have, don't go around spreading "how bad this or that program" is. Let others make up their own minds. What may not have worked for you, may be that "sure thing" for some one else.

Be a creator of circumstances rather than just a creature of circumstances. Be proactive rather than reactive.
- Brian Tracy

There are those of us who are always 'about' to live. We are waiting until things change, until there is more time, until we are less tired, until we get a promotion, until we settle down - until, until, until.

It always seems as if there is some major event that must occur in our lives before we begin living.
- George Sheehan

Our doubts are traitors, and make us lose the good we often might win, by fearing to attempt.

Tapping into Your Super Creative Power
by Avish Parashar

Do you consider yourself creative? How about super creative? Most people may not think of themselves as creative, but I believe that everyone has the potential for great creativity. They just need a little understanding and practice.

Think of two parts of the mind: the conscious, and the subconscious. The conscious is the part that thinks. It's the part that you are aware of. The subconscious handles everything else. Your bodily functions, sensory input, memories, feelings, associations, and more are all handled by the subconscious.

The subconscious is much more powerful than the conscious. The subconscious handles thousands of things every minute. The conscious mind can only focus on one. Even when you think you multi-task, you are actually switching your focus very quickly between different things.

The real power of creativity lies in the subconscious. Your creativity comes out of all the things you are not aware of - memories you don't remember, things you have seen but have not noticed, and feelings within you that naturally occur. All of your new great ideas are lying inside of your subconscious, right now. The trick is in figuring out how to access them.

Most people have a lot of 'gunk' (no, that's not a scientific term) inside of them. The first step towards getting to that creative subconscious part is to clear that gunk out of the way. So how does a person do that? There are many ways, but here we will talk about two common ways: meditating and Journaling.

Meditation has the reputation of being mystical and religious. For our purposes, meditation is just sitting in silence. This sounds simple, but it is very difficult. In our society we are constantly bombarded with input - TV, radio, the Internet, other people, etc. As a result, we never sit in silence with ourselves. When you first meditate, your mind will race. These thoughts are what's in your conscious mind, and as long as they are there you are not getting in touch with your subconscious. The key here is to relax and let those thoughts go. This will seem impossible at first, but practice it. Start small, with 5 minutes a day, and work your way up.

Journaling is similar to meditating in that you are trying to get past conscious thoughts. Journaling is simply writing your thoughts down. Unlike keeping a diary, though, the kind of Journaling we are talking about it is free flow writing where your pen never stops moving and you don't care about what you write. When you start, it is ok to write 'I have nothing to write' over and over until something comes up. Don't censor yourself, and don't let your pen stop. It is best to journal in the morning, before your conscious mind has been filled with events of the day. Journaling should be done by hand, not on the computer. When you write, try to fill three pages. The first page or two will be basic conscious stuff you need to get out of your mind. Filling three pages helps get past all that.

For a good deal more on Journaling, read 'The Artist's Way' by Julia Cameron.

If you want to start tapping into your creativity, start clearing out your gunk. Start doing some meditating (sitting in silence) or morning journaling everyday. It won't have an immediate effect, but over time it will make you immensely powerful.

Hot Tip

Here's a great tip from Bob Osgoodby. This is very helpful if you have all sorts of extra toolbars and links in IE.

More Viewable Web Page

If you would like to see more web page and less MS Internet Explorer toolbars, here's a little trick you'll like. When you’re on a web page, hit the F11 key. It will put you into "full screen" mode. Hit F11 again to go back to normal mode.

One complaint people tend to have with full screen mode is that you don't have stuff like your address or menu bar. Well, in this case, you can. Just right-click a blank area of the toolbar. A menu will pop up that lets you add your address bar, menu bar, and any other Explorer bars you feel the need to have.

Since it's in full screen mode, you won't be able to squeeze too many of these extra little bars in, but at least you can get the essentials.

You can even get less Explorer toolbar at the top of your page. Right-click the toolbar and select "Autohide" from the resulting menu (same one as mentioned above). Now, when you move your mouse away, the toolbar disappears. Move your mouse back to the top and the toolbar re-appears.

'3 Good Ways to Refresh & Redirect Your Web Pages'

Do you ever wonder how you can refresh your page so that others, with browsers which do not readily load the new contents of your site, can see updates immediately?

This is extremely useful if you update your webpage regularly. If you don't put this refresh code, your repeat visitors may still see the old page because they will be viewing your page from their computer cache.

Or do you wish to automatically redirect a page, whether it be your favorite link or main page? Now you can by just following this very short and simple tutorial.
