The significant challenges that we face today cannot be resolved by the same level of thinking that created them.

Issue:   #131    Date: May 11th, 2004

Publisher's Corner

Hi there and a big, warm welcome to our new subscribers. You'll find I'm pretty casual in the way I come across to my readers and that's because I just want to be able to 'talk' to you as if we were sitting across the table from each other.

And by the time you read this, I'll be 'on the road' with my husband, James. We are headed to Arizona for this trip and I'm really looking forward to it.

Last week I shared the first two parts of a series of articles entitled Email In the Crosshairs: Felony Fines and Jail Time! written by Larry Umlor. Here's Part III and Part IV in the series.

The Sasser.A and Sasser.B worms have been creating more havoc than at first suspected, especially for home pc users. And now there is Sasser.C and Sasser.D. The scary thing is that you don't have to do anything wrong. If your computer keeps shutting down on you and you are running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, go to What You Should Know About the Sasser Worm and Its Variants. You can download a tool that will check your system to see if it is infected.

I also came across an article Origin of the term "spam" to mean net abuse which outlines the history of spam. Would you believe this guy actually pegs the first spam message and it goes back as far as 1978? It's quite a lengthy article but it does have some interesting information.

How To Think Your Way To Success is our Feature Article today and comes to us from Craig Lock of New Zealand. Many people do not realize the importance of attitude in our every day lives. Your attitude will affect everything around you - whether it's a positive attitude or a negative attitude. Give that some thought and realize the choice is yours.

Our Special Feature is another in the series As You Follow Your Dreams ..., written by Sandra Sturtz Hauss.

Have a great day and keep smiling. I'll be in touch from on the road.

HOW TO THINK YOUR WAY TO SUCCESS
by Craig Lock

The Vital Importance of a Winning Attitude:

Positive attitudes fuel the fire of achievement in people's lives. Superstars, like boxer Sugar Ray Leonard and Carl Lewis are the epitomies of positive thinking superstar sportsmen. A positive attitude is the single most important factor for success in life. Health-conscious, gym-going people epitomise* positive thinking.

* Like that fancy word, "epitomise", which I'm using so frequently.

Your attitude. Is it "the right attitude? It's something many of us take for granted. "Why should I worry about my attitude?" - you say. "If people can't get along with me, that's their problem."

If you carry a negative attitude around with you every day, you are closing the doors of opportunities in your life. We are all exposed to negative thinking, "poor-attitude" people - they're everywhere. With all the negative input that we receive from our friends, family, bosses, the news and co-workers, maintaining a positive attitude can be difficult ... but it's so important.

When most people hear the words "attitude adjustment", they think about going to the bar for the "happy hour". Those who continually immerse themselves in this nonsense, neglect the real problem themselves. When things don't go right in their live's, they try to escape by not facing reality. People who lead the fitness life-style generally have positive attitudes. They feel good, they look good and those feelings radiate to anyone whom comes into contact with them. The only bars that the fitness conscious care about are bar -bells. They have made a commitment to themselves to stay in shape. It takes the same type of commitment to maintain a positive attitude, although be aware that at times you may have "down days". Then it's up to you to pull your attitude up once more.

Our thoughts determine the outcomes of our lives. So CONTROL YOUR THINKING ...

AND YOU CONTROL YOUR LIFE

Everyday Wisdom
by Dr. Wayne Dwyer

Everything in the universe flows. You can't get ahold of water by clutching it. Let your hand relax, and you can experience it.

The whole universal system is held together through love, harmony and cooperation. If you use your thoughts according to these principles you can transcend anything that gets in the way.

Inspiration

The greatest revolution of our generation is the discovery that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives.
- William James

Do not think that what your thoughts dwell on does not matter. Your thoughts are making you.
- Bishop Steere

God asks no man whether he will accept life. That is not the choice. You must take it. The only choice is how.
- Henry Ward Beecher

Special Feature

As You Follow Your Dreams ...
- Sandra Sturtz Hauss

May you find serenity and tranquility in a world you may not always understand.
May you walk through life facing each new situation with courage and optimism.
May you discover enough goodness in others to believe in a world of peace.
May a kind word, a reassuring touch, and a warm smile be yours every day of your life, and may you give these gifts as well as receive them.
May you not become too concerned with material matters, but instead place immeasurable value on the goodness in your heart.
May you find time in each day to see beauty and love in the world around you.
Realize that each person has limitless abilities, but each is different in his or her own way.
See your future as one filled with promise and possibility.
Find enough inner strength to determine your own worth by yourself, and not be dependent on another's judgment of your accomplishments.
May you always feed loved.

Hot Tip

CTRL-Z (Edit-Undo)

You just moved several files and then realized it's not what you want to do. Or maybe you accidentally deleted half the document you spent the whole morning working on. Don't Panic!

Here is a tip to send them back to where they came from or restore the document. While still in the window where you moved the misquided files or on the document press- and -hold the Ctrl key and then press z. This will undo your last action and return the files or restore the document. In fact this will always undo the last operation performed in most applications. Now if only we had a control-z for the real world.
