~~~Publisher's Corner~~~
Happy, Happy New Year to you all! Hard to believe another
year has gone by, isn't it! A big, warm welcome to our
new subscribers.
It's pretty much a tradition at this time of year to stand
back and reflect on the events of the past year.
Without a doubt the tragedy surrounding the September 11th
terrorist bombings will be remembered for a long time to
come. Virtually every other happening throughout the year
has taken second place. To top that off, we are faced with
the economic repercussions that have evolved due to these
dreadful acts.
This event alone, tragic as it was, has made us stop and
truly think about what is important to us. Miraculously
people, countries, various religions and societies were
brought together with a show of strength, support and love.
Those who seldom had a thought about faith were praying for
themselves, their friends and family as well as their
leaders.
Looking back over the past year, have you accomplished all
that you set out to do? Do you make resolutions and then
forget about them or do you really follow through? Unless
you know exactly what you are looking for in business or
in life, you will have a difficult time getting there.
Making resolutions at this time of year is good -- the
follow through will be what counts. This is similar to
writing out your goals. Write your resolutions/goals down
and put a start date and complete date beside each one.
This helps you watch your progress and allows you to see
whether you are on track. Each time you accomplish what you
set out to do, add another goal -- challenge yourself.
Personally, I have found that writing down my goals,
together with the steps needed to achieve them, is the best
way. This way you can read them every day and see your
progress. Keeping track of short term goals in your head
isn't too bad but what about those intermediate and long
term goals? Having something concrete -- right in front
of you keeps you from straying too far from what you have
chosen to do.
Believing in your product or service is the key. Don't try
to pass off something you aren't really interested in. It
will always show in the way you advertise. Find something
of value and start 'sharing' that with others. Build a good
relationship with the people you come into contact with.
And never, ever forget about customer service. It's just as
important online as it is offline. You've seen customer
service deteriorate big time in the bricks and mortar
businesses and you've seen them suffer because of it. Just
because you can hide behind a monitor, doesn't mean you
throw your manners to wind. Always keep in mind that there
is another person, just like you, behind the other computer
screen.
I want to thank those of you who shared your resolutions
with the 'Family' and I've put them in a special section
which follows our Features. We have two great Feature
Articles again today. 'Selling With Principles - Not
Plungers' comes to us courtesy of Joe Bingham and is an
excellent read. And fellow subscriber, John Colanzi,
presents 'Make Your Resolutions Stick!' I hope you all
enjoy them as much as I did.
Here's a quick 'thank you' to Mary for pointing out that
the EZVote link at the bottom of KIT was out of order. Ian
Noakes' site was hacked into and caused him more than a few
headaches. The link seems to be working now. So, if you
haven't voted for KIT and want to, just follow the link
below. (Mary has been wonderful discovering problems with
some of the links -- if I'm not careful, I'll have to think
about putting her on the payroll!) All kidding aside, I do
appreciate all feedback, comments and suggestions I receive
from each of you. Keep those Articles coming in too. I'll
get them into KIT as soon as I can.
Have a safe and Happy New Year. I wish you all success in
whatever path you have chosen to take. Have a great day
and keep smiling!
~~~Notes and Quotes~~~

When I despair, I remember that all through history the
way of truth and love has always won. There have been
tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible
but in the end, they always fall. Think of it -- ALWAYS.

Mahatma Gandhi, Indian Leader

<---><---><---><---><---><--->

In keeping with the idea of creating a successful business
there are several things to be considered/dealt with. Some
of us are able to breeze through the process while others
of us need a little help, a little encouragement, perhaps
some structure and/or discipline to take us further than
we ever dreamed possible.

I'm talking about a coach. I thought I'd share a little
about what I've gained by working with a coach.

- For me, he has become my partner in helping me to attain
the goals that I've set out for myself.

- I didn't have to 'explain what I meant' when I told him
I wanted to make a living online.

- Some of you know that I've had some pretty challenging
health issues, particularly this last year. Monty has
been relentless in making sure I understand the importance
of self-care -- first and foremost.

- He has been a tremendous source of support. I feel that
one of the strongest assets in his repertoire is his
ability to grasp your whole situation and assist you in
putting it all into a perspective that is good for you and
those around you.

Even coaches set goals and now that he is doing this full-
time he is looking to expand his client base. Here are just
a few of the types of people he likes to work with.

-- Entrepreneurs and start-up businesses with BIG
ideas/dreams and the willingness and commitment to see them
through to match.

-- People for whom the corporate ladder has become a
pointless climb.

-- People who want to make sure their 'walk' is in line with
their true values.

-- People ready to stop whining and start doing.

These are just a few suggestions but if you are looking
for someone who can champion your goals, keep you on track
and help you through the steps to get what you want, Monty
Sharp is 'your man'.

He's very easy to talk to and he's very perceptive. Take
him up on his offer of two free trial calls and you'll see
that the decision will be an easy one. Just click here:

~~~Feature Articles~~~
****************************************************
Selling With Principles -- NOT Plungers
****************************************************
For most of us, selling is against our natures. We were
taught as children to be polite, courteous, and respecting
of others. (Well, at least some of us were anyway.)
The problem is, selling seems to go against those
principles. Notice I said selling 'seems' to go against the
polite, courteous side of ourselves. In actuality, however,
only bad salesmanship is overly aggressive, obtrusive, and
just plain not nice.
However, if you're just starting out, it can be difficult to
find a way to make your point and offer your product without
feeling like you're right up in someone's face with a toilet
plunger shoving it down their throat.
If any of you ever meet me in person, you'll most likely be
surprised at the way I am.
I'm actually not real talkative, at least not to start with.
(That's very much opposite of my writing nature, isn't it?).
It takes me a while to open up and let my grandpa's genetics
take over and start rambling on.
That's with personal issues, however. When it comes to
selling, I'm learning to open more immediately and connect
with people. It's important to contact and connect
immediately.
Why?
Because if you don't, there will be 912 other people who
will slip in and get ahead of you.
In truth, though, there's no reason to be slow to move in on
a selling opportunity.
IF you meet the following two conditions:
1 - You are proud of what you are selling.
2 - You believe what you are selling will actually benefit
the potential customer in question.
If you aren't proud, or don't believe in what you are
selling, then you have to ask yourself why you are involved
with it in the first place.
If you're happy to present your product, however, it will
show. You won't be forcing a sale, you'll be presenting a
benefit. You won't be seen as an aggressive, toilet
plunging jerk, as some salesmen are, but as a resource.
It's ok to let yourself get into every opportunity that
comes up. For some, it's easier to do this online through
written contact only, but you'll find the same principles
apply offline as well as on.
Be proud and show your belief in what you are doing. Then,
learn to exhibit them to others. That's what sells.
Selling doesn't have to be against your principles, just
make sure you have some principles in your selling. They
are easier to pack around than a toilet plunger anyway.
Make Your Resolutions Stick!
by John Colanzi
Another year is winding down.
As the new year approaches it's time to make your
resolutions for the New Year.
You start the New Year with 'Great Expectations.' You set
your goals for the coming year and you promise that this
year you'll stick to them.
As time goes by you hit a set back here and an unexpected
problem there and your goals fly out the window.
Why do you suppose that is?
I can tell you why. You've been programed to remember the
negatives and forget the positives.
We lose our 'Great Expectations' the first chance we get.
There's a story that illustrates this point.
There's a large group of individuals at a positive thinking
rally. As the speaker is talking in walks a man with a
ticket in his hand.
The speaker pauses and announces, 'One of you has been
chosen to receive $1,000,000.'
What do you think flashes through their minds?
'I know it's not me, I never win anything.'
A little later a man walks in with an executioners outfit
on. The speaker announces this time, 'I'm sorry, but one
of you is about to be executed.'
This time everyone is thinking, 'Oh God, I know it's me.'
Wow! Do you think like that?
So how do you make sure you stay focused and positive when
things aren't going as expected?
There's a concept they use in the 'Silva Method' called
'Reference Points.' Most positive thinking groups have
similar concepts.
To create a reference point you pick the most successful
event you remember. Every day you concentrate on your
'Reference Point.'
Why?
To focus your mind on the positives in your life. Nature
abhors a vacuum. Left on it's own, your mind will fill the
void with the recent negative events.
As soon as you reach a goal, you set a newer more positive
'Reference Point.'
Tame your mind, set your goals and keep your resolutions.
Start using 'Reference Points' and Make Your Resolutions
Stick.
Wishing You Success,
John Colanzi
Hi Lois
I don't usually make New Year's resolutions (I can never keep them!) but this year is very different.
There is a trend in the USA, since Sept. 11, to be nicer to others and I resolve to do my part. Keeping that one will be easy.
Russ
p.s.
Keep up the very good work with KIT. It's your decisions, right or wrong, that make it yours and not part of the lump.
Hi Lois,
I usually have a list of New Years Resolutions most of them
are the usual Lose Weight, Make Money, Save Money, Eat
Healthy (which just means giving up chocolate in my case),
Exercise More, Spend more time with family etc...
Some I do acheive and some are broken by January 2nd (the
chocolate one usually goes first!)!
But this year with all that is happening in the world I am
only making one and I am really going to give it my best to
keep it all year long, And that is to cherish every minute
of every day good or bad...And to stop each night and be
grateful for the day I just had!
I hope we all have a Safe and Happy New Year!
Hi...I am Krisman, a new subscriber of this ezine. I have
been joining my online business since December 2001. And
this month would be my 1st anniversary, right ?. I have
many things to tell here about online business which I
experienced during this year. But firstly I will tell you
the bad things that I made or experienced during the year :
1. I have been ripped off manytimes, and I already spent a
lot of money and times on my business. I joined "Cookie
Cutter" last December but my commission was never paid.
They cheated me seriously. Be carefull !! I hope the site
was already closed down.
2. I signed up too many free Affiliate Programs that I
could not focus on promoting them and even I forgot some
passwords, It is a real fun !.
3. I like free things: free ads, free website, free
autoresponders, in shorts, free of charge. I forgot that my
mother used to say "You will get what you pay for". It is a
serious mistake to make money, right ?
4. My friends at offline job always blame for joining online
business and laught at me. But I don't care !
Secondly, The good thins that I experienced during the year:
1. I can communicate with many webmasters in online business
and I got many good things from them on online business that
I never think of before .
2. I realized that starting online and offline business is
just the same. 'We should invest money and time'
3. I have been in good track of business now. I know which
business should I join.
4. I am not afraid of losing my offline job anymore, because
online business is more amazing if we can focus.
My plan for thhis coming year 2002.
1. I want to resign from my current job. I have been bored
of looking at ICs. Iam working at Semiconductor company that
producing ICs.
2. I want to be my own bos, not other people !
I think that's all that I can voice out today, I'll tell
somemore if we are still given the chance.
May God Bless all of you and Happy New Year,
Krisman Situmorang,
Krismans@indosat.net.id
Hi Lois:
Oh ya, I should respond to your resolution request - I think the only resolution I've made is to be financially good to myself - pay myself first and increase my base investments this year by 25% over what I did last year. I received my CPP statement in the mail the other day and it showed me that if I work at the same rate I am now for the next 28 years my income from pension won't nearly be enough to sustain me on a monthly basis. I will however have enough money every month to see a movie and go out for dinner! Whoo hoo!!!
~~~Readers' Comments/Suggestions~~~

Another bang on issue -- Paul Barrs article hits so close to
home I almost checked to see if he was looking over my
shoulder and was able to see what I was (or actually wasn't)
doing. So I'll have to get with the 'easy to do' side of
things and with the limited time constraints I face Peg
Bastins article should help make the most of the time when
my eyes are open. Thanx again for all your work and
research. You know even though we are related and I get to
see first hand the effort that you put into each publication
(though till I get my issue I never know whats in it) I
still amazed at the quality of your publication and the
resources I find in its pages... Keep up the good work.

Hi Lois!

Happy New Year to you! I have not made

them!

I noticed in your newsletter you mention the

That way you receive the commission if someone
