| KIT # 89: Are You Committed To Your Future? |
| Issue: #89 Date: March 18th, 2003 Publisher's Corner Hi and welcome to today's issue of Keeping in Touch. A big, warm 'hello' to all our new subscribers. I'd like to remind you that the KIT Klassifieds issue has been temporarily suspended until further notice. There are several reasons for this decision. First and foremost is the fact that fewer ezines are reaching the people who subscribed to them. Everyone seems to be having trouble with email. Someone will mention they haven't received a response or did I check their link - but I haven't received the message. The same thing happens in reverse. I send a message whether to family or for business and it's lost out in cyberspace - not even delivered. I have my own SMTP Server so I can see whether the message is sent successfully. It may even be that that's part of the problem. I'll do some testing and let you know. I apologize for the ads from Tons of Hits subscribers not being placed. I did advise Tom that we put the advertising on hold for awhile. Perhaps his system cannot be halted in midstream. Until we find a way to fight these crazy mail filters that stop what we want while pushing through the garbage we don't want, it looks like things will be 'up in the air' for awhile. What I'll do is put the archive issues on auto-resonder so that you can send for issues you've missed. You may recall that the site is being re-structured and I'll be experiencing another move to a dedicated server shortly so it's probably better to keep everything here on the computer until it's time to upload the new site. :-) Are You Committed To Your Future? is today's Feature Article. John Colanzi emphasizes the difference in being committed to your goal of having a successful online business versus the concept of 'getting rich quick'. Earning a living online is possible but it will take determined effort on your part and it won't happen over night. Today's Special Feature is an article I wrote back in 2001 but it's just as true today as it was then. Dreams and goals are important but there is only one way to make them come true. And that part is up to you. One final comment: I had a very special download for you today. Unfortunately, we are having trouble with the ftp server on my site and I can't get it uploaded. I'll probably send out a special message during the week so that you get it as soon as possible. Have a great day and keep on smiling. Lois M. absolutely Awesome! Feature Article Are You Committed To Your Future? by John Colanzi We love the stories of the average person who hops on the net and makes $100,000 their first year. The problem is these stories and these individuals are the exception, not the rule. They end up reinforcing the "get rich quick" easy money mentality. A newbie starts marketing and after a week or two starts questioning why he isn't making a "boatload" of money yet. He's frustrated because he's made the exceptional, rare case his yardstick, instead of learning the truth about how much time and planning goes into building a business. He hasn't made a long term commitment to his future. It's time to start setting goals based on reality. So what is the truth? It takes the $100,000 a year earner around two to three years to reach their income levels. It took most of them six months or more to reach the goal of making $1,000 a month. What do those statistics tell you? Most of the highest earners had committed to a two to three year game plan. They were willing to hang tight for six months or more before they reached their first $1,000 a month in profits. Are you prepared to do the same, or are you still expecting to make $15,000 in your first 15 days? If you're not willing to make that type of commitment, you're better off going to the track or the casino. If you're not ready, willing and able to make a long term commitment to your future, save yourself the frustration of setting yourself up to fail. Ignoring the facts and burying your head in the sand, will keep you hopping from program to program. You'll never give any program the time necessary to show a real profit. It's in your hands. You can make a long term commitment to building your future, or you can stay frustrated and eventually stop trying. The choice is yours. Commit or perish. All are of no value unless they are followed by action." Isn't that one of the most powerful quotes you've ever read? It was written by a well-known motivational speaker/writer named Og Mandino. You can have all the dreams in the world, the best laid plans and the most organized list of goals you want to achieve -- none of it is worth a hill of beans unless you take action. It is simple to get caught up in the planning stages, working to 'perfect' this and organize that until you actually become paralyzed into doing nothing at all. Others find it easier to criticize or lay blame on someone or something else. If your first ad is kind of wishy washy, take the time to learn how to write a productive ad. If your first web site turns out to be a bit of a disaster, go find what it takes to improve it learn how to draw people to your site. Don't just moan and groan and find someone else to blame. You will find such a release and sense of excitement once you take the baby steps (actions) needed to get you to where you want to go. Each time you accomplish one of the goals you have set for yourself, take the steps necessary to accomplish the next one. Keep on challenging yourself -- make each goal a little more difficult to attain. This will provide the momentum you need to keep moving forward. You will also be more focused and less likely to be distracted. In an online business, we all basically start with a level playing field. Our learning curves and times may vary, however the process remains the same. Now it's up to you -- and only you. Set yourself up to succeed. Understanding what you want to achieve with an online business is the key. Why are you doing this? Then set out the steps you will take to get there. Knowing your goals is like having a road map. Without the map, you will probably get lost in an area that is unfamiliar to you. Keep referring to the map (your goals) and you will get to where you want to go. The most important thing you can do for yourself is to ACT NOW! ~**~**~**~Lois Jeary publishes KIT (Keeping In Touch) through her Home4Success channel which features straight forward articles, helpful hints and suggestions, interaction with subscribers and more.
